Please do a piece on the inappropriate relationship that Amanda Barrows has with her supervisor Christopher Hiralez. It has been going on since he was her instructor. Hiralez has shielded Barrows from any negative complaints, demanded special exceptions for Barrows, and has been seen by many Park Rangers doing inappropriate things together. The Park Ranger department is terribly toxic and Park Rangers are not allowed the ability to do their jobs efficiency and effectively.
When Barrows started the Park Ranger department had an amazing working relationship with the Homeless Outreach Team and were placing homeless persons at a steady rate. Barrows came in and stated that the Homeless Outreach Team was not doing their jobs efficiency and destroyed the established relationship thereby destroying any connection to services to our homeless populations in the parks.
Thank you for this important reporting, Susan. I am really touched to read about the folks who graciously shared their lives with you and Amanda. Please pass on to Amanda our appreciation for her work! I will write to the the Park District to express my gratitude.
Thank you for this piece. This park ranger is inspiring. If we could just clear up all the stupid red tape that gets in the way of accessing services!
Fantastic work, all around!
I shared your wonderful piece a couple of days ago. Hope it’s getting the attention it deserves.
Thank you so much!
